Studying Work In College

Studying Work in College helps college work-study students improve their competence in seven key areas associated with 21st century career success:

• Solving problems
• Acting responsibly
• Time management
• Communicating clearly
• Acting motivated
• Getting along with others
• Thinking about 'the big picture.'

Every adoption of Studying Work in College includes a set of support material, designed to give a college or university all of the training and follow-up materials it will need to prepare work-study students and their supervisors to maximize the impact of these materials. The materials are free with adoption (< 30 copies). They include the following:

• Facilitator's overview (for the college person in charge of implementing the system).
• Training guides for one-hour, one-time training of work-study supervisors and students.
• Master copies of all transparencies to support the one-hour, one-time training sessions.
• Master copies of all handouts to support the one-hour, one-time sessions.
• Copies of the evaluation forms which supervisors will use to assess work-study student performance on an on-going basis.
