English Language Skills

The English Language Skills Test measures 20 writing skills which are organized under four major categories:

• Conceptual and Organizational Skills

• Word Choice Skills

• Sentence Structure Skills

• Grammar, Spelling, Capitalization, and Punctuation Skills

Each competency in these four categories is described with examples that accompany the explanations. Four sample tests afford ample opportunities to practice these competencies in situations similar to the actual tests.

The Menu at your left allows you to move to each of its major categories, take a sample test, return to the Main Menu, or Logout. If you use the "Next" button at the bottom of each page, you will move to the next page in the sequence without using the Menu.
