Introduction: Essay Skills
Writing Sample Introduction
The CLAST Writing Sample Test asks you to do the same things that the Writing Skills section asks you to recognize. You will be writing a multi-paragraph essay of 300-600 words on a given topic.
The essay sub-test asks that students demonstrate competency on many general writing skills including 11 tested on the ELS sub-test. Students have sixty minutes to write the essay on one of two selected topics. You should practice timing and writing as many essays as you need in order to feel confident.
