Letter from the Editor
We were educators before we got into the publishing business, but the transition has been professionally very satisfying. We are surprised almost every day by the value that LASSI has brought to some new learning situation. Our experience of the past year indicates that more and more institutions are considering LASSI as part of their admission/orientation process. We believe strongly that retention efforts need to concentrate on student needs before there are academic signs of difficulty.
The problems you face this year are difficult and, unless the trend is reversed, the problems next year will be even more challenging. We urge you to be more proactive than reactive to the economic/social turmoil that the country/world is experiencing. We are doing our best to help you “get ahead” of these situations; we are convinced that your work will be more successful with the use of early assessment that diagnose/prescribe without making judgments. If you have ideas on how we can help you approach this goal, give us a call.
